" Unpredictiable -

Singer Efrat Alony can clearly be recognized thorugh a handful of notes. Her dark, warm timbre and her enormous vocal range have a deep seated effect. Especially when she dives into the low registers, which are rarely explored- not only in jazz. It is fascinating how Alony breezes through unique melodies, masterfully forms transparent vocal sculptures which seem to appear out of nowhere. She streches the vowels over many notes, like a prima ballerina she jumps through the octaves, shifting from a clear bell-like sound to a dark, abyssal rough expression.

Throughout her career , she has been focusing on a uniquly personal, multi-layered music and appears to know that her artistic consistency and tanasity will hardly help her reach a wide ranged audience. Anyone who dives into Alony's sonic cosmos will finds a poetry of refined notes. On winding paths, the singer and composer leads you to mysterious shades and clear-cut contrasts, dreamlike and haunting moods."

Handel Fast Forward

Trying to put Efrat Alony’s music in a box is a task destined to fail. Every musical compartment would simply be too small. Her ability to compose and sing in- between the musical genres, in a her exceptional unique style, is exactly what makes her stand out and shine.

„ i love challenges“ she explains, „ i enjoy trying to find a perimeter, where one thinks one can`t push it any further, and then- do just that- try to jump across it. Every time anew, I’m startled, as to how flexible our mind, our ears, our abilities as performers and our ever changing perception of music really is"

In Efrat’s new project „ Handel Fast Forward““, she is doing just that- pushing the envelope. Working with Handel’s music, airs from Operas such as "Theodora“, „Lucrezia“, „Ottone" , „Alexander Balus“ or „Saul“ she is turning Handel’s music Upside-Down , putting it into motion with fresh and playful new arrangements, reharmonized, rhythmicalized, exploring a wide range of emotions, from a lyrical afterthought up to a wild free improvisation .

Accompanied by her Trio, a dream- line up , set from crème de la crème of the contemporary german jazz scene, their music undertakes a fantastical Journey, through a hidden doorway to Handel’s world.
